Many cultures around the world celebrate the new year not at the beginning of January, but instead, before the beginning of Spring. This year the Chinese New Year falls on January 31. It’s a time of changing your luck, increasing prosperity, and the color red.

To celebrate the occasion, also known as the Spring Festival, we put together a list of seven movies that tell stories of change, tradition, and family for the Chinese New Year.
